   Terahertz-Super Lens

Terahertz Super lens (Tsurupica TM) has extremely higher transmission and lower absorption at the wavelength of VIS and THz than conventional material such as polyethylene . This lens is invented by Tera-Photonics Research Team Photo-Dynamics Research Center at RIKEN ( http://www.riken.go.jp/lab-www/tera/index.html )

The lens is made of transparent material and has the same refractive index at both THz region and visible wavelength. So the beam propagation of invisible THz wave can be visualized and traceable by He-Ne laser. (see the transmission data below)

The second key feature is Tsurupica doesn't have the strong absorption that Polyethylene has, so this material is suitable for window of cryostat or bolometers.

Fresnel loss is also lower than that of Si substrate.

optically polished

VIS range can be transmitted without any distortion of beam profiles.
Tsurupica-R rough  polished  VIS range still can be transmitted
Tsurupica-S unpolished Affordable THz lens and effective for block VIS right
     Key Features:

 

        No absorption around 2THz           ( Polyethylene has strong absorption around 2THz)
        High transmission for both VIS and THz region
        Freq. Range: upto 12THz
        Same refractive index :        THz wave    : 1.52     
                                                 Visible wave  : 1.52

 

        Suitable for window of cryostat, detector or chamber
        Aperture: upto 135mm as standard size
        Concave, convex, Bi-convex, cylindrical, Aspheric, wedge plate, prism, sample plate,  etc..
Tsurupica-RR & -R Tsurupica-S
